Indoor heated swimming pool, jacuzzi,infrared therapy cabin, off license, well stocked shop, games room, petanque course children's play area, launderette, dog walking area (+dog wash!) and friendly staff. I have this from visitors Georgie and Venn who originally found the campsite on my website, and who now regularly visit Woodovis as their favourite campsite in the South West.
Harford Bunkhouse & Camping offers comfortable budget accommodation on the edge of South Dartmoor. An ideal choice if you are planning to start the Two Moors Way walk from south to north. Run alongside a working Dartmoor farm. The campsite is divided between two of the farm’s meadows. Campers can use the toilets and showers located within the bunkhouse buildings. Facilities include a wash-up area, drying room, laundry facilities and disabled access. There are also three camping pods and a cabin in the garden. These sleep up to 6 people each and have the same facilities as camping. Small campfires in the provided fire pits and BBQs are allowed at the farm’s discretion. Children and dogs welcome (dogs must be kept on a lead at all times).
This campsite is open all year and takes up to 75 tents and 10 motor homes. (No electric hookups) Prices are per person, not per unit. I recommend that you book well in advance in the bunkhouse as it gets full in Summer with backpackers from all over the world.
Paradise for hyperactive kids of all ages. Campers who stay on the caravan park have free access to the adventure park which is bursting with Commando Assault course (for big and little children!), Pirate Ship, Toddlers beach, Toddlers Playground (Lilliput), Spiders web, Wooden play fort, Cows Udders, Snake Slides, Zip wires and Jungle Fun. Plenty of supervised play plus canoeing and Water Zorbs. Go for it !! Not that they welcome noisy teenagers. As their website quotes "If you are looking for late nights and wild parties, we would politely suggest you find an alternative venue!"
Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome at Lydford caravan and camping park. The park has very green credentials including solar panels. Walk to 3 pubs, cycle safely to Okehampton. Visit nearby Lydford Gorge and Lydford Castle along with some walks onto the Moor.

No loud music, no traffic noise, stunning starry skies, peace and quiet and of course, a friendly atmosphere.
