Portia loves to explore and photograph Dartmoor. She recently had a photo essay published in Devon Life Magazine about the challenge that her family have set themselves to climb and photograph every Tor on Dartmoor. Follow their progress on her blog. When conquering Tors Portia loves to take shots which include a member of her family whether human or furry. Not only to prove they were there but because as a professional photographer she specialises in creating images that are a fusion of landscape and portrait photography.
Portia's aim whether she is photographing her own family or a clients is that the photographs are both pleasing to the eye & meaningful as a record of time & place, memories and emotions. There is such a sense of freedom on the moor she finds it a great place for taking portraits as people soon forget themselves and find themselves leaping over rocks, splashing in streams and running hand in hand through the long grass. Her intention is that when people look at the images they will recognise the quirky gestures, the individual expressions, the humour, the connections, the passion and the thoughtfulness that make them and those they love what they are. Portia will then create 'wall art' from the images of 'The People You Love in The Places You Love'.
Portia has been awarded the Distinction of Licentiateship of The Royal Photographic Society. Last year she won first runner up in the Annabel Williams International Portrait competition. Her Dartmoor landscape photographs have adorned the front cover of Devon Life and she regularly photographs for the front cover of Outreach Magazine.
